Admissions to undergraduate courses at IIST institute will be done through ISAT entrance test. This year the registration process will commence in the month of November 2011. Students who want to take admission can apply online by visiting IIST’s official website. The candidates who want to apply for ISAT entrance exam will have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria of the exam.
Eligibility Criteria for ISAT 2012
Nationality: The candidates who are citizen of India are eligible to apply to ISAT 2012.
Date of Birth: The candidates who belong to General and OBC categories should be born on or after 1st October, 1986, however the date of birth of those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be born on or after 1st October, 1981. The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/or its equivalent will be accepted. If the candidate does not submit the date of birth, candidates must submit an authenticated document from competent authority which can indicate the date of birth at the time of Counselling.
Qualifying Examination: Candidates who belong to General and OBC categories must have passed any one of the QE examinations in the first attempt with aggregate marks of at least 70% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). The candidates who are from SC, ST and PD categories must have passed any one of the QE in the first appearance with at least 60% marks in PCM subjects. The candidate must have cleared the QE on or after 1st January 2010 and on or before1st July 2011. Candidates who have passed the QE earlier than 1st January 2010 are also not eligible to apply.
The qualifying exams are listing below:
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recogenised State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi, etc.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.
Minimum Percentage of Marks in Class X or equivalent examination
Candidates who belong to General and OBC categories must have secured at least 70% marks in aggregate and those who are from SC, ST and PD categories must have at least 60% marks in aggregate, into all subjects.
