IIT JAM 2012 is an entrance examination which is
generally taken by those candidates who want to get admission in
M.Sc. and other post-graduate B.Sc. programmes at IITs. Joint
Admission Test (IIT JAM 2012) is an all India exam and conducted by the
all seven IITs of the country. The degrees offered in these IITs
impart quality education to students.
Eligibility Criteria for IIT
JAM 2012
To get admission in IITs in their M.Sc and Ph. D programmes
students required to fulfill a certain eligibility criteria. The
candidates who qualify in JAM 2012 need
to match the following eligibility criteria for getting admission
in IITs.
Candidate must have secured at least 55% aggregate marks (taking
into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries,
all years combined) for general/OBC
category candidates and all candidates must have at least 50%
aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the
qualifying degree.
All the candidates are supposed to submit the proof of having
passed the qualifying degree with the minimum educational
qualification as specified by admitting institute by 30th
September, 2012.

Entrance Exam
IIT JAM
entrance exam has following test papers:
- Mathematics
- Mathematical Statistics
- Physics
- Geophysics
- Geology
- Chemistry
- Biotechnology
- Computer Applications
Each test paper in IIT JAM Entrance is of 3 hours duration. A candidate can
opt to appear in either one or two test papers, subject to the
limitations imposed by the Test schedule.
Biotechnology and Computer Applications test papers are
objective type. All other six test papers will be
objective-cum-subjective type. IIT
JAM paper has negative marking for wrong
answers to the objective type questions in all the test papers. For
each test paper in exam, an All India merit list is prepared.

Preparation
Students should prepare hard for the exam in order to score
well. All the eight test papers have specific IIT JAM syllabus. Students
should practice using IIT JAM question paper, IIT
JAM previous papers. IIT JAM results will be
available on the official website. In order to get the result,
students will need the registration number.
