GATE 2013 Application Procedure

Application Procedure GATE 2013

This year in GATE 2013, aspirants need to register and fill the application form Online only by accessing the respective zonal GATE website of IISc and seven IITs. The application process will be considered complete only when a print out of the filled Online Application with candidate's signature and a good quality of recent photograph in the appropriate place is received by the respective GATE office. The application should reach the respective office along with all necessary documents, if any, on or before 8th October, 2012. The sale of application forms through bank and GATE office counters has been discontinued.

GATE Online Applicant Interface

An online interface will be provided for most of your interaction with the GATE office. Interface
can be open by using url: http://gateapp.iitb.ac.in In this website you can

  1. Apply for the examination online
  2. Upload photograph, signature, and supporting documents.
  3. Make application fee payment through netbanking.
  4. Check the status of your application form: Received, Under Scrutiny, Rejected after Scrutiny failed, Accepted after Successful Scrutiny, Admit Card Ready for Download, etc.
  5. Contact the GATE office in case of any queries/problems (Grievance Redressal).
  6. Download Admit Card.
  7. View your answers, marks and GATE score.

Online Application Procedure:

Challan Payment:

Application Fees is non refundable for male candidates.Payment can be made through Net Banking, Canara Bank & State Bank of India branches. Bank service charge is extra (Min of Rs 10 & Maximum of Rs.25/-)

Decide payment option:
Online Payment Details: Online Payment can be made through Net banking in Gate Application Interface. Payment will not be accepted by Credit Card.

Offline Challan Payment Details

  1. If you had chosen offline payment option while filling in the form, you will be provided with a
    copy of the challan in triplicate (PDF file) with your details filled in. You have to print
    fill details such as date and signature.
  2. You have to wait for at least 48 hours after generation of application pdf online and only
    then take filled challan to the bank for payment of fees.

The bank challan will be printed in triplicate. Take it to anyone of the branches of Canara Bank & State of India and pay the fees. Bank will retain a copy and will return two copies to you. In those two copies, retain the Candidate's copy with you and attach the GATE 2013 copy with the application.

Apply Online:

Candidates must follow the instructions provided while applying online.

At the end of this process, a PDF file will be generated with the following pages:

  • Page-1: Instructions
  • Page-2: GATE 2012 Application - GATE Copy
  • Page-3: GATE 2012 Application - Candidate's Copy
  • Page-4: Address Slip of respective zonal GATE office
  • Page-5: Bank Challan (for Challan Payment option only)

Take a print out of the entire file.

Photograph & Signature Req

GATE 2013 student Interface requires electronic copies of photograph and signature. Uploaded photographs or signatures that do not meet specifications can result in disqualification of the application without any refund of the fee.

Mailing Of Document

Application form along with necessary documents has to be mailed at zonal office by speed Post. Regular post will not be accepted.

Submission of GATE Application 2012:

Before posting your GATE application form, make sure that, in addition to the other relevant attachments, you have attached either a copy of the degree certificate or a certificate from your college principal as indicated below:

  • Candidates should submit a copy of the degree certificate or provisional certificate if they have passed their qualifying degree in 2012 or before.
  • Candidates with the following eligibility conditions should submit a certificate signed by the Principal of the college, where the candidate is studying, clearly indicating the year of passing of the candidate in the qualifying degree.
  • Students in the final year of Bachelor's degree programme in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2).
  • Students in the final year of Bachelor's degree programme in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma).
  • Students in the final year of Master's degree programmes in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent.
  • Students in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology.
  • Students in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

Make sure that your application will reach the respective zonal GATE office on or before 8th October, 2012.
