Aeronautical engineering or Aerospace engineering dealing with the technology and systems required by the aviation and space exploration industry is said to be the most challenging amongst all fields of engineering. Working and understanding the designing, construction, testing and operation of military aircraft, spacecrafts, satellites and missiles is an integral part of aeronautical engineering. Aeronautical engineering also known alternately as aerospace engineering requires high level of precision and working with cutting edge technology.
For a B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering one needs to have high percentage of marks in science subjects in 10 + 2 and should clear the entrance exam of the institute and for an M.Tech program one should have a B.E. or B.Tech in Aerospace engineering (aerospace engineering).
For an M.Tech in Aeronautics one needs to have a B.E. or B.Tech in Aeronautics or atleast a diploma in Aeronautical engineering.
Another available option is the associate membership exam conducted by the Aeronautical Society of India, clearing which one can apply for an M.Tech or Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering with any of the aeronautical engineering colleges in India.
Any student with Physics, chemistry, maths combination in 12th class and a minimum of 50% marks in each subject can appear for the exam conducted by the aeronautics society of India. The exam consists of two sections A and B, and students possessing a B.E. or B.Tech degree are required to appear only for the Section B paper. They are required to clear the "principles of flight" paper of the Section A. This aerospace engineering exam is held twice a year once in June and then again in December.
The students who clear the aeronautics entrance exam are given the certificate of being Associate Member of the Aeronautical Society of India which is considered equivalent to a B.Tech in aeronautical engineering.

I am a grade 11 student at an American High School and i would love to proceed my education into aerospace field. I have a overall percentage of 93 in my 10th (subjects: chemistry, algebra 2, geometry, spanish, english, american history) and i am currently taking: precalculus, AP Statistics, AP Environmental science, Physics, Astronomy, and Gym. My 12th shedule contains english 12, AP Calcus AB, AP Physics B, Engineering drawing 1 and 2, tennis and health, and Compuer science 1 and 2. I was wondering if taking these courses as pre-requisits for aerospace can help me in college and with a high percentage in these subjects can get me into an NIT college.

I think its best if you continued your education toward aeronautical engineering because you are already in a base level of it. It would only stress you out if you change your major to aerospace all of a sudden. I would suggest you to complete your bachelors in aeronautical in india and then go abroad in order to get a better education on it. I would suggest you to enter University of Michigan in United States because of its magnificient aeronautical field. It is a topper in the natioin.
